CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M battled all afternoon before falling to the #3 Texas Woman's Pioneers in a Lone Star Conference overtime thriller at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. The loss snapped a 19-game win streak for the Lady Buffs, the seventh longest in program history.

The first quarter began with WT trailing as Texas Woman's opened with a quick 6–0 run. The Lady Buffs responded with a strong transition game, highlighted by a fast-break 3-pointer from
Karley Motschenbacher at 7:57, cutting the deficit to three. The team continued to capitalize on turnovers, with
Kyla Kane nailing a three-pointer at 6:43, giving them their first lead at 8–6.

As the quarter progressed, both teams exchanged leads, with
Taylor Haggan and
Henley West contributing key points in the paint. The Lady Buffs maintained composure, executing on assists and free throws, particularly with
Taytum Bell's two free throws at 1:28, which briefly put them ahead. The quarter concluded with the Lady Buffs holding a narrow 21–20 lead over Texas Woman's.

The second quarter began with the Lady Buffs maintaining a narrow edge, highlighted by
Randi Harding's three-pointer at 9:01 that extended the lead to 24–20. However, TWU responded with a scoring surge, overtaking the Lady Buffs with a layup and free throw by Gabby Elliott, bringing the score to 23–24.

The Lady Buffs briefly regained momentum with Kane's jumper and another three-pointer from Harding, but Texas Woman's capitalized on turnovers, with Averee Kleinhans' three-pointer shifting the lead to 32–31. The Lady Buffs struggled offensively in the latter part of the quarter as Texas Woman's expanded their advantage, closing the quarter leading 38–32.

The Lady Buffs opened the third quarter with a defensive stance, securing a rebound off a missed jumper by Texas Woman's. Kane sparked a run with a 3-pointer at 4:57, assisted by Harding, cutting the deficit to five. West added another 3-pointer at 3:01, maintaining momentum for the home team.

Despite late pressure from Texas Woman's, including a jumper by Kleinhans, the Lady Buffs responded with Motschenbacher's 3-pointer at 00:23, keeping the game within reach and ending the quarter trailing 49–45.

The Lady Buffs began the fourth quarter with a quick layup by Motschenbacher to cut the deficit to two points. The team capitalized on strong defensive plays, including a steal by Motschenbacher, allowing Kane to convert two free throws and tie the game at 51–51 early in the quarter.
