#8 Lady Buffs Claim a Pair of Saturday Wins in Los Lunas

CANYON, Texas – The #8 Lady Buffs remained unbeaten on Saturday afternoon as they picked up a pair of decisive victories over UCCS and Southwestern Oklahoma State during the South Central Regional Crossover in Los Lunas, New Mexico.
 
The Lady Buffs close out the weekend with Sunday matchups against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Adams State in Los Lunas.
 
West Texas A&M 6, UCCS 0
WT started strong in the first inning with Bella Holland singling to left field, followed by Jordyn De Los Santos singling to center. Abby Howell's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners, setting up Cadence Colborn's double to center field, which brought in two runs.
 
In the second inning, Emily Liskai walked and was driven home by Heaven Moreno's double. Trinity Kuntz then doubled, scoring Moreno. Holland's double brought Kuntz home, extending the lead to 5-0 after the second inning.
 
The Lady Buffs' pitching and defense held UCCS scoreless through the next innings, with UCCS managing only two hits in the game. In the sixth inning, Avery Cannon reached on a fielder's choice and scored on De Los Santos' single, adding another run and cementing the lead.
 
Janning delivered a standout performance for the Lady Buffs, pitching a complete game shutout. Over 7 innings, she allowed just 2 hits and issued 1 walk while striking out 4 batters. Janning was efficient with her pitches, throwing 73 total and finding the strike zone 53 times. Her ability to keep UCCS scoreless highlighted her effectiveness, as she faced 23 batters and recorded a victory to advance her season record to 2-0.
 
West Texas A&M 15, Southwestern Oklahoma State 1 (5 innings)
WT started strong in the first inning as Holland led off with a single to center field. De Los Santos followed with another single, moving Holland to second. Abby Howell then grounded out but brought in Holland, giving the Lady Buffs an early 1–0 lead after the first inning. 
 
The second inning saw an offensive surge from the Lady Buffs. Liskai walked and Moreno doubled, setting up Kuntz's RBI single that drove in Liskai. Moreno advanced to third and scored on Cannon's single, and Cannon's hit also brought home Maddie Hight after she had reached base and stolen second. De Los Santos tripled to score Holland, and Cadence Colborn's single added another run. The inning concluded with the Buffs leading 10–0.
 
In the third inning, De Los Santos hit a two-run homer extending the lead for the Lady Buffs to 12–0. The Bulldogs managed to get on the board in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly by Kennedi Caine, narrowing the gap slightly to 12–1.
 
The fifth inning featured a three-run home run by Melanie Baldwin, further cementing the lead for the Lady Buffs at 15–1. Southwestern Oklahoma was unable to mount a significant comeback as the game progressed.
 
Laci Peskey delivered a strong start for the Lady Buffs, pitching 3 innings, allowing 2 hits, and striking out 4 batters without giving up a run. Ava Sharp came in as a relief, pitching 1 inning, conceding 1 hit and 2 walks, while striking out 1. Raegan Sucher pitched 1 inning, giving up 1 hit and 1 earned run, with 2 flyouts and a groundout.
