CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M dropped a 91-85 Lone Star Conference decision to the UT Tyler Patriots on Thursday night at the First United Bank Center in Canyon, Texas.

WT started the first half with a strong defensive effort, forcing seven turnovers and recording six steals. Early on,
Jailyn Sledge hit a 3-pointer, assisted by
Brock Mishak, to give the home team an initial lead. However, UT Tyler responded with a series of successful drives, including multiple layups by Sean Emfinger, to take control of the early minutes.

Despite trailing, the Buffs narrowed the gap through consistent scoring from
Fontaine Williams, who contributed with both jumpers and free throws.
Zach Brown's 3-pointer at 11:46, assisted by Mishak, sparked a run that brought the team within striking distance. By the end of the half, WT closed the deficit to three points, trailing 38-35.

The Buffs started the second half trailing and faced a series of challenges early on.
Camden Cowgill provided a spark with a layup and a free throw at 17:43 to narrow the gap to seven points, but UT Tyler's Kyle Morgan responded with successful free throws to extend their lead. A series of fouls and turnovers made it difficult for the Buffs to gain momentum.

Midway through the half, WT mounted a comeback, with Mishak hitting a key 3-pointer at 14:11, cutting the deficit. Williams contributed with efficient free throw shooting, keeping the home team within reach. The teams exchanged baskets, and a pivotal 3-pointer by Cowgill at 8:43 tied the game at 65, marking a critical shift in momentum.

As the half progressed, both teams traded the lead, with WT closing the gap with effective scoring from the bench. However, UT Tyler capitalized on turnovers and free throws in the final minutes, sealing a narrow victory over the Buffs 91-85.

Williams led the team with 27 points, converting all 11 of his free throw attempts. Cowgill added 16 points while making three 3-pointers. Mishak contributed 12 points and recorded five rebounds.
James Parlow Jr. made an impact defensively with two steals and added 11 points before fouling out.
