Balanced Attack Powers the #7 Lady Buffs in Wichita Falls, 78-65

CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs had five players reach double-figures on Saturday afternoon as WT ran their win streak to 17 games with a 78-65 Lone Star Conference victory over the Midwestern State Mustangs at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls, Texas.
 
West Texas A&M began the first quarter by emphasizing inside scoring, dominating the paint with 10 points. After an initial deficit, they took control with a series of baskets from Taytum Bell and Taylor Haggan, who contributed to a 7–1 stretch that swung momentum in their favor. Henley West added crucial points, helping the team extend their lead. Defensively, the Lady Buffs limited Midwestern State's scoring opportunities, allowing only 10 points.
 
WT opened the second quarter with a strong offensive push, highlighted by Randi Harding's 3-pointer at 8:12. This momentum continued with Taylor Haggan's layup and Kyla Kane's 3-pointer, extending their lead. The team capitalized on fast breaks and bench scoring, with effective ball movement leading to seven assists in the quarter. Despite Midwestern State making some scoring attempts, the Lady Buffs maintained their lead with solid defensive rebounds and a key block by Kane. The quarter closed with Abbi Holder's layup, bolstering the visitor's lead to 38-26.
 
The Lady Buffs opened the third quarter with a strong offensive push, extending their lead through effective scoring in the paint. Taylor Haggan played a crucial role with a layup early in the quarter, followed by a series of free throws that bolstered the team's advantage. The team maintained momentum by capitalizing on turnovers and securing defensive stops. Randi Harding and Claire Graham contributed with key layups, while Henley West added another to keep the scoring consistent. West Tex. A&M's defense held firm, limiting Midwestern State's opportunities and forcing multiple turnovers. As the quarter concluded, a late layup by Harding solidified the Buffs' lead, closing the third with a 59–45 advantage over Midwestern State.
 
West Texas A&M began the fourth quarter with a strong start, as Taytum Bell converted a fastbreak layup and free throw to extend the lead. Bell continued to impact the game with a series of offensive rebounds and a tip-in, increasing the advantage to 64–49. Randi Harding facilitated the offense with key assists, while Taylor Haggan and Claire Graham added to the scoring with points in the paint. 
 
Midway through the quarter, the Lady Buffs maintained pressure with Kyla Kane and Henley West contributing on both ends. Zoey McBroom's three-pointer at 3:28 further solidified the lead, making it 75–55. Despite Midwestern State's efforts to close the gap, including consistent free throw shooting, West Texas A&M continued to control the pace with effective fastbreaks and defensive stops.
 
Kyla Kane scored 14 points and recorded two blocks. Randi Harding added 12 points and posted four assists. Taylor Haggan contributed 14 points and collected seven rebounds. Henley West finished with 12 points and two blocks.
 
The Lady Buffs return to the court on Thursday night as they make the short trip to Portales, New Mexico to take on the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds with tipoff set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
