CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Softball welcomes 2025 National Runner-Up Texas Tech to Schaeffer Park on Sunday, October 5
th for a 10-inning fall exhibition starting at 2:00 p.m. in Canyon.

"We're thrilled to be playing Texas Tech right here at Schaeffer Park! This is a fantastic opportunity for fans to see some of the best softball players in the country and enjoy an exciting day of high-level competition" said WT head coach Michael Mook "It's also a great chance for the youth in our community to watch one of the top players in the collegiate game up close. To make the day even more special, both teams will be signing autographs after the game. This is going to be a special opportunity, so I'd recommend getting your tickets as soon as they're released — I have a feeling they're going to go fast!"
In just six seasons at the helm, Michael Mook has led West Texas A&M to a 242-61 (.799) mark while claiming the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship. The Lady Buffs are coming off of a 56-8 overall campaign as they claimed a share of the Lone Star Conference regular season title with WT making a run to the South Central Super Regionals.
The Red Raiders registered the best season in program history in 2025, going 54-14 including a 20-4 mark in league play to win the Big 12 Regular Season and Conference Tournament Titles. TTU hosted the first regional in school history on their way to a trip in the NCAA Women's College World Series, also a first for the program. The Red Raiders claimed wins over Ole Miss, UCLA and Oklahoma before falling to Texas in a three-game championship series.
Gerry Glasco was named the head coach of the Texas Tech Softball program on June of 2024. The Red Raiders broke 22 program records during the historic 2025 season and had 10 players earn All-Big 12 honors. Glasco also earned Big 12 Coach of the Year honors after going 20-4 in conference play, also a program best.
NiJaree Canady, the 2025 D1 Softball National Pitcher of the Year, was named a First Team All-American as she went 34-7 in the circle with a 1.11 ERA including 23 complete games and 319 strikeouts in 240.0 innings. The senior from Topeka, Kansas also impressed at the plate with a .278 batting average, driving in 34 RBI on 17 extra-base hits highlighted by 11 homeruns.
