CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M senior middle blocker
Taytum Stow has been named the 2025 Lone Star Conference Volleyball Preseason Defensive Player of the Year with the Lady Buffs sitting second in the preseason coaches' poll announced on Monday morning by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
The senior middle blocker from Hereford, Texas led the league with 138 blocks (1.27 per set) on her way to a second LSC Defensive Player of the Year Award (also 2022). Stow was also third in the LSC with a .364 hitting percentage and earned honorable mention All-American status.
Angelo State claimed 30 of the possible 54 first place votes for 933 points to sit atop of the poll followed by West Texas A&M (18 first place, 919), UT Tyler (three first place, 859), DBU (two first place, 803), Texas Woman's (738), St. Mary's (633), Oklahoma Christian (616) Lubbock Christian (602), UT Permian Basin (542) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (499) to round out the top ten.
Midwestern State was tabbed 11
th (436) followed by Texas A&M International (one first place, 371), St. Edward's (319), UT Dallas (272), Western New Mexico (265), Eastern New Mexico (204), Cameron (116) and Sul Ross State (107).
ASU's Madi Parrish was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while UT Tyler senior Saige Rivera was tabbed the Preseason Setter of the Year. The preseason poll and preseason players of the year are voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media members.
The Lady Buffs open up their campaign on September 5-6 as they host the annual BritKare Lady Buff Classic at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
