CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M prepares to host its third consecutive NCAA Tournament at Schaeffer Park when the Lady Buffs host Lone Star Conference rival Lubbock Christian to open the South Central Region II bracket. The Lady Buffs and Lady Chaps are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch with the winner advancing to Friday's 12 p.m. game against either No. 3 seed Angelo State or No. 6 Colorado Mesa.

The Athletic Communications Department from West Texas A&M will provide live stats and a pay-per-view web stream. Fans will need to purchase a monthly ($19.99) or annual ($107.88) subscription with FloSports, the official streaming provider of the Lone Star Conference. A LOOK AT THE (2) #3 LADY BUFFS
West Texas A&M came up short in the Lone Star Conference Championship game against No. 1-ranked UT Tyler. The Lady Buffs defeated St. Edward's 3-0 and Lubbock Christian 6-0 to make it to the LSC Championship. WT comes into the NCAA tournament with a 52-5 record.
The Lady Buffs feature another high-octane lineup that ranks inside the top 10 for Division II for almost every offensive category including on-base percentage, triples, and walks. WT leads the country in batting average, hits, home runs, RBIs, runs, scoring, and slugging percentage.
Junior
Emilee Boyer's .477 batting average ranks seventh in the country and leads the team where 13 different players have a .300 batting average or higher. Boyer's 88 RBIs and 0.987 slugging percentage lead Division II while her 21 home runs tie for the national lead.
Lauren Granger's 156 total bases rank second for the national lead while her seven triples rank 14
th and 80 hits rank 17
th nationally.
In the circle, WT has posted a 2.07 ERA with 394 strikeouts and 106 earned runs in 358 innings. All four WT pitchers have reached double-digit strikeouts including Boyer with 224,
Heidi Vortherms with 121,
Kendall Selitzky with 39, and
Ashley Mandell with 10. The Lady Buffs' 7.70 strikeouts per seven innings ranks fourth in Division II.
Head Coach
Michael Mook is in his sixth season at WT, registering a 238-58 (.804) record in that time. For his career, Mook holds 392-119 record in 10 seasons for an overall winning percentage of .767.
SCOUTING (7) LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The Lady Chaps return to Canyon for the NCAA Tournament after making the trip I-27 for the Lone Star Conference tournament last weekend. LCU upset No. 5 seed Oklahoma Christian in dominant fashion, 11-3, before falling to WT in the conference semifinals. The Lady Chaps hold a 36-20 record ahead of Thursday's regional action.
Kendra Levesque leads the LCU offense as the graduate student holds a .395 batting average with a 1.205 OPS, .740 slugging percentage, and .465 on-base percentage. The Albuquerque native leads the team with 12 home runs, 23 doubles and 56 RBIs while scoring 39 runs. Baylea Myers follows with a .381 batting average, 69 hits, 46 runs, and 42 RBI.
As a pitching staff, the Lady Chaps hold a 3.60 ERA in 362.0 innings of work. During that time, opponents are hitting .266 while hitting 50 doubles, nine triples, and 38 home runs while striking out 276 times. Kendall Ward leads the team with a 2.10 ERA on 21 appearances and one start with a complete game, five saves, and 23 strikeouts. Toeni Lamb leads the primary starters with a 3.30 ERA on 27 appearances and 24 starts with 119 strikeouts to 42 walks in 127.1 innings of work.
Daren Hays is in his 15
th season as the head coach of the Lubbock Christian program and 15
th overall. Hays holds a 585-216 (.730) record for hirs career with a matching record at the helm of the Lady Chaps.
THE SERIES
WT leads the all-time series with Lubbock Christian with a 26-12 record with a 11-7 record in Canyon. The Lady Buffs are 13-3 against the Lady Chaps under
Michael Mook. LCU held the WT offense in check earlier this season with the Lady Buffs winning 2-0 and 4-2 in Canyon on March 23 before a doubleheader split between the two teams in Lubbock on April 25. When the two teams faced off in the LSC tournament, the Lady Buffs shut out the Lady Chaps, 6-0.

LADY BUFFS IN THE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
West Texas A&M softball is 40-26 all-time in the NCAA Tournament including a 13-6 mark under
Michael Mook. 2025 marks the 13
th time the Lady Buffs have been selected for NCAA postseason play and third consecutive year to play in and host a regional bracket. WT has won three NCAA regional titles with national titles coming in 2014 and 2021.
A LOOK AT THE BRACKET
UT Tyler earned the region's top seed and will host the other four-team regional bracket. West Texas A&M earned the No. 2 seed with Angelo State receiving the No. 3 seed. Oklahoma Christian and Colorado Christian received the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively, with Colorado Mesa earning the No. 6 seed. Lubbock Christian and MSU Denver round out the eight-team field at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
UT Tyler will host Oklahoma Christian, Colorado Christian, and MSU Denver at Irwin Field in Tyler, Texas. WT Will host Angelo State, Colorado Mesa, and Lubbock Christian at Schaeffer Park in Canyon. The two sites will play May 8-10 with each bracket winner meeting at the higher seed on May 15-16.
NFCA RANKINGS
UT Tyler remained in the top spot with all 16 first-place votes and 400 points followed by Francis Marion (383), West Texas A&M (367), Central Oklahoma (353), and Tampa (332) remained in their positions from the previous week. Augustana (311), Auburn Montgomery (309), Angelo State (287), Western Washington (271), East Stroudsburg (246) round out the top 10.
The South Central region is represented by four teams with UT Tyler leading the way at No. 1. West Texas A&M (3
rd), Angelo State (8
th), and Oklahoma Christian (21
st) earned spots in the rankings. Lubbock Christian and Colorado Christian received votes.

The winner of the South Central Region II bracket will advance to the South Central Super Regional series to be hosted at the higher seed on May 15-16.
