CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M salvaged a Lone Star Conference weekend series split on Monday afternoon as they topped the Lubbock Christian Chaps, 11-6 at Hays Field in Lubbock, Texas.

The Buffs jumped out to an early lead in the finale as
Kyle Micklus tripled to the gap in right center to score
Jovan Camacho followed by a
Ryan Camacho RBI single to right for the 2-0 lead.

WT extended their lead in the top of the second inning as
Elijah Batista scored from third on an errant LCU throw, the Buffs would load the bases in the third as
Dylan Fesperman lifted a sac fly to center followed by a Batista RBI single and a
Rodric Black sac fly for the 6-0 lead.

The Chaps used the long ball to cut into the lead in the home half of the third as Shea Bowen lifted a solo shot to right center with one out to make it 6-1. The Buffs would respond in the top of the fifth inning on a
Rodric Black RBI single thru the left side for the 7-1 lead.

LCU cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Adam Garcia drew an RBI walk with the bases loaded and no outs followed by an infield popup and a Frayner Chavez infield single, Bowen would lift a sac fly to center to make it 7-4.

The Buffs added to their lead in the top of the seventh as a Black line drive to the gap in right center found it's way in an out of an outfielder's glove with the senior racing around the bases for an inside-the-park homerun at 8-4.Â

WT plated some insurance runs in eighth on a Black RBI bunt single followed by another Chaps fielding error to make it 10-4. Lubbock Christian cut into the lead again in the bottom of the frame on a F. Chavez RBI single thru the left side followed by a Brevin McCool sac fly at 10-6. Noronha added some cushion in the top of the ninth as he drew a bases loaded walk for the 11-6 lead.

Julius Carpio picked up the win (4-0) for the Buffs, allowing one earned run on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts in his 5.0 innings of work.
Tai Phetluangsy claimed his eighth save, allowing two earned runs on four hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts in the final three frames.
