CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M senior right-hander
Max Lankford dominated on Sunday afternoon as the #23 Buffaloes picked up an 8-0 shutout win in the Lone Star Conference series finale over UT Permian Basin at Wilder Park to win the weekend series.

The Buffs started out the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as
Ryan Camacho doubled down the right field line to drive in his twin brother Jovan with one out followed later in the frame by a
Kory Schmidt two-run homerun just inside of the right field foul pole and an
Elijah Batista RBI single for the 4-0 lead.Â

WT added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning as an errant Falcon throw scored Dylan Fepserman from second base with one out. The Buffs would extend their lead in the fifth on a
Rodric Black sac fly to right with one out to plate
Seth Ochoa for the 6-0 lead.

The Buffs extended their lead again in the home half of the seventh on a
Jovan Camacho RBI fielder's choice groundout followed by R. Camacho being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the 8-0 lead.

Lankford picked up the win (2-0) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on just two hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in his 7.0 innings of work.

The Buffs travel to East Texas next weekend for a big Lone Star Conference series with the #7 Patriots of UT Tyler beginning on Friday night at Irwin Field.
