Balanced Attack Powers the #4 Buffs Past Arlington Baptist, 102-82

CANYON, Texas – The #4 Buffaloes had seven different players score in double-figures on Saturday afternoon as West Texas A&M claimed a 102-82 victory over the Arlington Baptist Patriots at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

West Texas A&M opened the first half with a strong offensive performance, highlighted by Zach Brown's early three-pointer at 19:41, assisted by Brendan Ballard. The team maintained momentum with efficient shooting beyond the arc, with Brown and Brock Mishak contributing multiple three-pointers. The Buffs capitalized on turnovers, forcing Arlington Baptist into 13 turnovers while committing only six themselves, and converting fast-break opportunities efficiently.

Throughout the half, the Buffs' defense was active, recording 10 steals, which helped them sustain scoring runs and build a comfortable lead. The home team dominated in the paint, scoring 24 points inside, and also excelled on second-chance opportunities with 11 points from offensive rebounds. As the half closed, the Buffs held a solid 57-37 lead over Arlington Baptist.

WT maintained their lead at the beginning of the second half, with Brock Mishak converting a layup and a free throw to boost the score to 60-37. Brown's layup shortly after extended the advantage, keeping the momentum with the home team.

Arlington Baptist attempted to respond with a combination of outside shooting and free throws, but the Buffs consistently countered with solid inside play and efficient scoring from the paint. Ballard and Fontaine Williams contributed with key layups, sustaining the lead.

As the half progressed, the Buffs capitalized on turnovers, leading to fast-break opportunities and additional scoring, including a three-pointer by Camden Cowgill. Jaden Holt's fast-break layup towards the end of the half was instrumental in reaching triple digits on the scoreboard. The half concluded with the Buffs holding a commanding lead, finishing 102-82.

Mishak posted 19 points, made six field goals, and recorded five steals while adding seven assists. Williams contributed 17 points, converting six of 11 shots and making all four of his free throw attempts. Cowgill scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and collected five rebounds.
