CANYON, Texas – The #8 West Texas A&M Buffaloes battled for 40 minutes on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten with a 94-92 Lone Star Conference victory over the Comets of UT Dallas at the UTD Activity Center in Richardson, Texas.

WT opened the first half by capitalizing on defensive opportunities, with
Jailyn Sledge and
Brendan Ballard each contributing steals early in the game. The team maintained offensive pressure, converting fast-break opportunities, highlighted by
Fontaine Williams' assist to
James Parlow Jr. for a layup at 18:11.

As the half progressed, the Buffs demonstrated efficiency from the free-throw line, sinking 14 of 17 attempts, which helped them keep pace with Texas-Dallas.
Zach Brown's performance from beyond the arc, including a crucial 3-pointer at 4:20, was instrumental in maintaining a narrow lead. The half concluded with WT holding a slim 45-43 advantage, leveraging their strong defensive play and consistent scoring to edge ahead.

Williams and Sledge combined for key baskets, maintaining a narrow lead despite Texas-Dallas' efforts to close the gap.

The closing moments saw the Buffs secure the victory, highlighted by clutch free throws from Williams and Brown. Despite a late push from the Comets, the game concluded with WT on top, 94-92.

Williams scored 26 points, converting 12 of 15 from the free-throw line, and added seven assists. Brown tallied 18 points, hitting all four of his 3-point attempts, and collected six rebounds. Jaden Mishak contributed 14 points and recorded five assists while securing seven rebounds. Ballard posted 10 points and excelled defensively with four blocks and four steals.
