CANYON, Texas – The #15 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M got back to their winning ways on Friday night as they swept past the St. Edward's Hilltoppers (25-12, 25-12, 25-12) in Lone Star Conference action at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
The match began with WT establishing early momentum against St. Edward's.
Currie Marusak opened with a service ace, setting the pace for a strong start. The team quickly surged to a 4-0 lead, propelled by a block from
Parker Gladhill and
Kaycee Cavanaugh, combined with two service aces from Marusak.
WT maintained control throughout the set, highlighted by effective offensive plays. Cavanaugh and
Bromli Watson contributed multiple kills, supported by assists from Watson, which extended the lead. Despite occasional points from St. Edward's, the home team continued to capitalize on opponent errors, including several attack errors by St. Edward's players.
Closing the set, the Lady Buffs sustained their lead with a balance of offensive pressure and defensive blocks. A final block by Watson and Gladhill sealed the set at 25-12, putting the Lady Buffs ahead in the match.

Emma Becker's kill from Watson initiated the scoring, followed by a series of opponent attack errors, pushing the score to 4-0.
Taytum Stow contributed significantly with multiple kills, maintaining the momentum for the Lady Buffs.
Midway through the set, a service ace by Marusak further extended the lead, and the team continued to apply pressure with solid blocks from Gladhill and Watson. Stow continued her offensive presence, adding crucial points to widen the gap.
As the set progressed, WT maintained control, despite sporadic scoring from St. Edward's. Becker sealed the set with a decisive kill, and a final block by Marusak and Gladhill closed the set at 25-12, keeping the momentum firmly with the Lady Buffs.
WT began the third set with significant momentum shifts, as Cavanaugh and Stow each delivered key kills, supported by Watson's assists. The set turned in favor of the Lady Buffs at 6-6, with Watson serving two consecutive aces, sparking a decisive run.
Becker and Cavanaugh continued to exert pressure with effective attacks, extending the lead to 15-8. Cavanaugh's consistent offensive contributions, including multiple kills, helped maintain the team's commanding position throughout the set.
The set concluded with WT capitalizing on St. Edward's errors and maintaining strong offensive play, highlighted by Watson's final kill. The Lady Buffs closed the set with a 25-12 victory, cementing their control in the match.
Cavanaugh led the team with 12 kills on 22 swings, posting a hitting percentage of .455. Stow added 10 kills and contributed three total blocks. Gladhill was a strong presence at the net, recording six block assists. Becker finished with eight kills and 10 digs, maintaining a hitting percentage of .538.
Carrington Jaimes led St. Edward's with a .429 hitting percentage, recording four kills on seven attempts. Althea Morris was instrumental in setting, contributing 21 assists over three matches. Addy Badley also made a notable impact with seven kills and a total of 7.5 points. Mia Clay added to the offense with six kills and chipped in a block assist, accumulating 6.5 points in total.
