CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes close out their regular season home schedule on Saturday afternoon as they welcome the Rattlers of St. Mary's to The Pitch with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. in Canyon during Lone Star Conference action.

The Buffs continued their offensive struggles on Wednesday afternoon as they failed to convert opportunities into goals, battling the Lobos to a scoreless draw in Alpine. WT tallied nine shots in the match with four of them coming on goal while
Zach Kos had a pair of saves in the tie.
A LOOK AT THE RATTLERS
St. Mary's enters the weekend with an overall record of 3-6-6 with a 2-5-1 mark in Lone Star Conference action as they sit 10
th in the league standings with two matches remaining. StMU dropped a 3-0 decision to Dallas Baptist on Wednesday night in San Antonio.
Enzo Jaques and Luke Mulkey lead the way offensively for the Rattlers as the pair have each scored two goals to go along with an assist for five points each.
StMU HEAD COACH JOHNNY CLIFFORD
Johnny Clifford is now in his eighth season at the helm of the St. Mary's men's soccer program. The UK native holds the program's all-time wins mark (79) as he has led the Rattlers to a pair of Lone Star Conference Championships (2019, 2022) with two trips to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

WT leads the all-time series with St. Mary's, 21-7-6. The two teams have drawn four of the last five meetings including a 1-1 tie during last year's matchup in San Antonio with
Gabriel Nevarez putting WT on the board in the 22
nd minute followed by a Rattler goal in the 27

WT HEAD COACH BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer is now in his 35th season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M. Lauffer is the longest tenured head coach in WT history in a storied career dating back to 1991. Lauffer reached the 500-win plateau on Sept. 30, 2017 with a dominating 13-2 win over UT Permian Basin.
During his tenure, Lauffer coached the men to 31 consecutive non-losing seasons from 1993 to 2023 and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 387-184-60 (.665) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 577-251-76 (.683) overall record at WT.
LSC PRESEASON POLL
West Texas A&M was picked fifth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Midwestern State claimed 16 of the possible 33 first place votes for 338 points to sit atop of the poll followed by St. Mary's (13 first place, 331), St. Edward's (three first place, 297), DBU (241), West Texas A&M (239), Lubbock Christian (169), UT Tyler (161), Oklahoma Christian (134), UT Dallas (104), Texas A&M International (one first place, 86) and Sul Ross State (78).
Arthur Souza of St. Edward's was tabbed the league's Preseason Player of the Year while Luke Mulkey and Johnny Thurbin from St. Mary's claimed Defensive and Goalkeeper Preseason Honors.
