CANYON, Texas – The Chaps of Lubbock Christian scored a pair of second half goals within three minutes of each other as they picked up a 2-1 Lone Star Conference victory over West Texas A&M on Senior Night at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas.

The first half saw both WT and Lubbock Christian struggle to find the back of the net, resulting in a scoreless half. The Buffs' defense was put to the test as
Bryce Cottle made crucial saves, particularly stopping a bottom-center shot from Lubbock Christian's Kade McKinzie in the 36th minute and another from Augusto Militao in the 40th minute.Â

On the offensive end, the Buffs'
Desire Essis and
Ben Scotford attempted to break through with shots in the 33rd minute, but they could not convert. The period ended with a flurry of activity from Lubbock Christian, including a corner kick in the 42nd minute, but neither team managed to capitalize on their chances.

The Buffs opened the scoring in the second half when
Ziv Shlimak found the net in the 58th minute on a free kick, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. Lubbock Christian quickly responded with a penalty kick goal by Geoffroy Letienne at 60:27, leveling the score. Francisco Horta then put Lubbock Christian ahead in the 63rd minute, marking a shift in momentum. Despite several attempts from the Buffs, including a shot saved by Connor Pettigrew in the 84th minute, the visiting team maintained their advantage to secure a 2-1 victory.

Shlimak scored the only goal for the Buffs and finished with one shot on goal. Cottle, in goal, recorded three saves while facing 12 shots, conceding two goals.
Delahmu Reeves took two shots, with one on target, contributing to the team's offensive efforts.

Letienne contributed significantly with one goal and one shot, which was on target. Horta also found the back of the net, scoring the game-winning goal from his only shot, which was on target. In defense, Pettigrew played a full 90 minutes as goalkeeper, making one save and conceding one goal out of ten shots faced.

The Buffs return to LSC action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas to take on the rival #12 Mustangs of Midwestern State with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. at Stang Park.
