CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M dropped a 2-0 Lone Star Conference decision to the rival #12 Midwestern State Mustangs on Sunday afternoon at Stang Park in Wichita Falls, Texas.
 
The first half began with Midwestern State maintaining a strong offensive presence, earning multiple corner kicks early on. The home team's persistence paid off when Cooper Tea scored in the 21st minute, giving Midwestern State a 1-0 lead. The Buffs' Bryce Cottle managed a crucial save in the 27th minute, but the visitors struggled to find scoring opportunities. The half concluded without further goals, leaving Midwestern State ahead 1-0 going into the break.
 
Midwestern State extended their lead in the second half with a goal by Parker Plaxco in the 72nd minute, assisted by Jarrod McKechnie. The Buffs' defense faced constant pressure, with Midwestern State taking multiple shots, including a notable attempt by Alan Rivera saved by Cottle in the 55th minute. The Buffs managed attempts from D'Jonte Davis and Rafa Javalera, but none found the back of the net. The match concluded with Midwestern State maintaining their 2-0 advantage.
 
Cottle played a full 90 minutes in goal and made one save while facing 15 shots, allowing two goals. Scotford attempted one shot, which was on target. Davis contributed with two shots, although neither was on goal. Javalera also registered one shot, which was on target.
 
Tea scored the game-winning goal for Midwestern State, contributing to the team's victory with his singular shot on target.
