CANYON, Texas – The Rattlers of St. Mary's scored a pair of goals in the last 90 seconds of play on Thursday night to claim a 3-1 Lone Star Conference victory over the Lady Buffs in front of almost 800 fans on Community Night at Happy State Bank Field in Canyon.
The 793 fans sets a new West Texas A&M women's soccer attendance mark, the previous high was 608 back on September 21, 2002 in a 4-0 shutout win over UT Permian Basin at The Pitch inside of the Buffalo Sports Complex on the WT campus.

The first half commenced with WT establishing early offensive pressure, as
Jezmin Castellanos Reyes attempted a shot just two minutes into play, though it went wide. The Lady Buffs maintained their attacking efforts, with
Alair Posard and
Lauren Stokes each testing the St. Mary's defense, but both shots were saved by goalkeeper Haley Faucette. Despite several fouls disrupting the flow, the Lady Buffs' defense held firm, limiting St. Mary's shot attempts to one off-target effort. The half concluded with neither team breaking the deadlock, keeping the score at 0-0.

The second half started with the Lady Buffs creating early opportunities, including a shot by Castellanos Reyes that went wide. Despite conceding an initial goal to St. Mary's,
Lawrencia Yeboah equalized for the Buffs at 63:37, bringing the score to 1-1. As the half progressed, the Lady Buffs maintained pressure with multiple attempts, including a shot from Stokes that hit the woodwork. However, St. Mary's responded with two late goals by Elena Kossler, securing a 3-1 lead by the end of the match.

Yeboah scored one goal on two shots, with one of the shots on goal, adding a key contribution from midfield.
Franciezca Blancaflor played the full 90 minutes as goalkeeper, recording one save from six shots faced. Castellanos Reyes made her presence known in defense with three shots, including one on goal.

Kossler led St. Mary's with two goals, including the game-winner, on three shots, all of which were on target. Shelby Paniagua contributed by scoring one goal on her only shot attempt, also securing an unassisted goal. In the defensive half, goalkeeper Faucette made four saves on ten shots faced, allowing just one goal over 90 minutes to earn the win. Marily Garza Contreras provided one assist, adding to the team's offensive efforts.

The Lady Buffs return to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to San Angelo, Texas for an LSC showdown with the Belles of Angelo State, kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at the ASU Soccer Field.
