CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M dropped a 2-0 Lone Star Conference matchup to the Angelo State Belles on Saturday afternoon at ASU Soccer Field in San Angelo, Texas.

The first half commenced with
Franciezca Blancaflor actively defending the goal, making crucial saves in the early minutes to maintain a scoreless start against Angelo State. Despite a series of corner kicks and a penalty kick opportunity from
Alicia Cohen, which was saved by Angelo State's goalkeeper Melyna Martinez, the Lady Buffs were unable to find the back of the net. Angelo State managed to take the lead in the 20th minute with a goal by Sanai Stewart. The half concluded with the Lady Buffs trailing 1-0, despite several attempts to level the score, including a shot by
Lauren Stokes just before the break.

The second half began with the Lady Buffs looking to build offensive momentum.
Mollie Ferro registered a shot in the 55th minute, forcing a save from Angelo State's goalkeeper Melyna Martinez. Despite this effort, Angelo State capitalized shortly after, with Sanai Stewart scoring in the 59th minute to extend their lead to 2-0.

The Lady Buffs' defense faced pressure but responded with Blancaflor making key saves against shots from Jillian Greaves and Carley Martinez, keeping the deficit manageable. However, a red card issued to
Sarah Hernandez Lopez in the 71st minute added to the challenge. WT continued to press, with
Michelle Velasco's late attempt in the 88th minute saved, closing the half with a 2-0 score in favor of Angelo State.

Franciezca Blancaflor made seven saves in 75 minutes of play, facing 14 shots and allowing two goals.
Sydney Nanz contributed with two saves in her 14 minutes on the field without conceding a goal.

Sanai Stewart led Angelo State with two goals, including the game-winning goal, from three shots, all of which were on target. Abby James contributed significantly with four shots, all on goal, leading the team in shot accuracy. Melyna Martinez played a key role in goalkeeping, recording four saves across 84 minutes to secure the victory.
