#13 Lady Buffs Leave Alpine with an LSC Sweep

CANYON, Texas – The #13 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to seven games on Saturday afternoon as they raced past the Sul Ross State Lobos (25-13, 25-15, 25-19) in Lone Star Conference action at the Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas.
 
West Texas A&M initiated the first set with a balanced attack, countering Sul Ross State's early point with a kill from Emma Becker, assisted by Bromli Watson. Taytum Stow and Watson contributed defensively with a block, shifting momentum in the Lady Buffs' favor. Becker's offensive impact was significant as she registered multiple kills, extending the team's lead.
 
As the set progressed, the Lady Buffs capitalized on Sul Ross State's errors, with Parker Gladhill and Currie Marusak executing a block to maintain control. Becker continued to be a key offensive weapon, adding several more kills to her tally. The set concluded with the Lady Buffs' decisive 25-13 victory, solidifying their early advantage in the match.
 
WT gained momentum in the second set with a series of well-executed plays. Parker Gladhill initiated the scoring for the Lady Buffs with a kill, leveling the score early at 1-1. Emma Becker and Taytum Stow contributed with significant kills, while Bromli Watson provided key assists to keep the offense strong. A critical moment came when Stow delivered back-to-back service aces, tilting the momentum in the Lady Buffs' favor.
 
As the set progressed, the Lady Buffs capitalized on Sul Ross State's errors, with Gracie Trulson's entry proving impactful. Trulson's presence was marked by forcing attack errors from the opposition, while Kaycee Cavanaugh and Watson added to the offensive effort. The Lady Buffs closed the set by extending their lead through consistent pressure, concluding the second set with a 25-15 score advantage.
 
West Texas A&M began the third set with a strong defensive effort, forcing two consecutive attack errors by Sul Ross State to gain an early 2-0 advantage. The visiting team then capitalized on a series of opponent missteps and effective plays, extending their lead to 8-2 with key contributions from Emma Becker and Kaycee Cavanaugh.
 
As the set continued, the Lady Buffs maintained their momentum with a service ace from Miranda Acosta and a series of blocks and kills, keeping a significant lead at 18-10. Although Sul Ross State attempted to close the gap, the Lady Buffs answered with a kill by Currie Marusak and continued to pressure with solid defense. The Buffs successfully closed the set with two final points off opponent errors, securing a 25-19 victory in the third set.
 
Emma Becker led the team with 12 kills and added one ace, contributing significantly to the offense. Taytum Stow excelled in defense with six total blocks and added five kills on a .625 hitting percentage. Currie Marusak recorded 12 digs while also contributing six kills and two assists. Bromli Watson orchestrated the attack with 25 assists and added seven digs in the match.
 
Danielle Senak contributed significantly for Sul Ross State, earning 8.0 points in three sets with 6 kills, 6 digs, and 2 block assists. Samantha Senak proved strong at the net, leading the team with 6 total blocks. Eliana Mata facilitated the attack with 14 assists across three sets, also adding 3 digs. Meanwhile, Anna Kasper contributed 6.5 points, including 5 kills and 3 block assists. Together, these players were pivotal in maintaining the defensive and offensive front for their team.
 
The Lady Buffs continue Lone Star Conference action on Friday night as they welcome the Patriots of UT Tyler to the WTAMU Fieldhouse with first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
