#3 Lady Buffs Start Fast and Outlast #15 Central Missouri in Four

CANYON, Texas – The #3 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M picked up their second victory of the day on Friday night as they started fast in a four-set win over the #15 Jennies of Central Missouri (25-15, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22) at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the night with 50 kills on 143 swings with 25 attack errors to hit .175 to go along with 47 assists, seven aces, 62 digs and five blocks. UCM registered 152 attacks with 47 kills and 26 errors to hit .138 on the night with 43 assists, eight aces, 54 digs and seven blocks.
 
Emma Becker led the Lady Buffs with 12 kills on 32 swings with five errors to hit .219 on the night to go along with one assist and 14 digs for a double-double. Angelina Oliver chipped in 10 kills on 19 attempts with just two errors to hit .421, Hannah Pemberton dished out a team-high 23 assists to go along with nine digs while Bryli Contreras led the way in the back row with 17 digs.
 
Central Missouri was led by Emma Siron who had 15 kills on 42 swings with five errors to hit .238 to go along with three aces and six digs. Elinor Engel (12) and Maya Ferguson (10) also reached double-digit kills while Maddie Wojdyla dished out a match-high 43 assists and Grace Winkelman had 19 digs.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • Friday night marked the 21st all-time meeting on the court between the Lady Buffs and Jennies, UCM leads the series 11-9-1
  • The Top-25 matchup featured two of the winningest programs in Division II history, combining for 2,857 victories (UCM – 1,556, WT – 1,301). The Jennies and Lady Buffs have combined for 67 NCAA Tournament trips and 24 Regional Championships
  • Becker registered her second career double-double on Friday night with – kills and – digs, the only other was on November 11, 2023 at Texas A&M International. It is the 20th time in the junior's career to reach double-digit kills
