CANYON, Texas – The #3 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M got back into the win column on Saturday afternoon as they picked up a four-set victory over #20 Dallas Baptist (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23) during the Lone Star Conference crossover at the Burg Center in Dallas, Texas.
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon with 43 kills on 130 attempts with just nine attack errors to hit .262 as a team with 28 assists, three aces, 36 digs and 14 blocks. The Patriots registered 54 kills on 133 swings with 25 attack errors to hit .218 to go along with 39 assists, six aces, 49 digs and four blocks.
Currie Marusak led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Amarillo product registered a season-high 13 kills on 32 swings with just two errors for an attack percentage of .344 to go along with six digs and five blocks,
Hannah Pemberton dished out a team-high 12 digs to go along with eight digs while
Bryli Contreras led the way in the back row with eight digs and three aces.
Karly Wells paced the DBU offense as the sophomore had a match-high 22 kills on 40 swings with six errors for an attack percentage of .400 to go along with one assist, four digs and a block. Aryn Walton dished out a match-high 35 assists to go along with five digs while Daylee Doggett led all players with 12 digs in the back row.
MATCH NOTES
- Saturday's matchup in Dallas was the 16th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Patriots, WT is 15-1 in the series that dates back to 2004
- Even though the match does not count toward the LSC regular season standings, Saturday's showdown will be crucial for regional rankings beginning in November
