CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's head coach
Brittany Harry announced the addition of
Getsemani Carrasco,
Camryn Heiser and
Hannah Pemberton to the 2024 roster. The 2024 season will kick off with the Lady Buffs hosting the annual BritKare Lady Buff Classic on September 5-7 featuring Ferris State, Texas A&M International, Central Missouri and West Virginia State. WT will face Ferris State in the season and home opener on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6:00 p.m.
Getsemani Carrasco
Defensive Specialist | Amarillo, Texas | Eastern New Mexico University
Getsemani 'Getse' Carrasco makes her way back home to the panhandle after competing for Eastern New Mexico and Otero Junior College during her undergrad campaign. She comes to the Lady Buffs with experience as a libero and defensive specialist where she led the Lone Star Conference with 5.33 digs per set in her senior season. She was ranked 8
th in NCAA Divison II in digs per set and totaled 575 digs overall to lead the Greyhounds while finishing second in the conference and 24
th in the nation in total digs. At Otero, she was named All-Region and earned All-Tournament honors. Carrasco is the daughter of Jorge and Martha Carrascao and sister to twin brother Juan and sister Itzayana. She will start her masters in sports administration and plans to coach and work in an athletic department upon graduation.
Harry on Carrasco: "Getse is going to provide us with depth in the defensive specialist position this season. She has some great experience in the conference already after two solid seasons at ENMU and leading the LSC in digs per set. She is 100% a recruit that just made Lady Buff volleyball better. Also, being a local player from Amarillo this is a bit of a full circle moment for her to come back home and play her 5th year at WT. She will make an immediate impact on the court as a Lady Buff."
Camryn Heiser
Middle Blocker/Opposite | Argyle, Texas | Argyle High School
Camryn Heiser makes her way to Canyon from Argyle, Texas where she played as a middle blocker and opposite for Argyle High School. She competed for club team Drive Nation and earned Argyle All-District and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American. Heiser is the daughter of Chad and Sarah Heiser and sister to Charlie and Chandler. She plans to major in business healthcare administration during her time as a Lady Buff.
Harry on Heiser: "Camryn is coming to us from Argyle where she played high level volleyball for Drive Nation club and at Argyle high school. She has experience playing middle and right side and she will give us some depth in both of those positions. She has family in the area and has grown up around WT. We believe she has the tools to be a successful Lady Buff and I am excited to watch Cam develop and grow at WT."
Hannah Pemberton
Setter | Henderson, Nevada | Coronado High School
Hannah Pemberton comes to Canyon from Henderson, Nevada where she was the setter for Coronado High School. She earned Coronado Player of the Year her senior season along with Nevada All-State team, Most Valuable Player and finished as State Champions and State Runner-up in her campaign. Pemberton is the daughter of Kurt and Amy Pemberton and sister to Hallie and Emmie. She plans to major in Sports and Exercise Science with plans to become an athletic trainer for a professional team.
Harry on Pemberton: "Hannah has had tremendous success setting for Coronado High School and the Vegas Aces volleyball club. Hannah is highly competitive player who is hungry to win. She has many great skill sets and we feel she has the tools to be one of the best setters in the conference. She is a great person and I am excited to get her to Canyon in August."
