CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head women's basketball coach
Josh Prock has announced the addition Butler Community College guard Randi Harding for the 2024-25 campaign.
"Randi is an exceptionally tough competitive young lady, she is a player who has great speed and quickness up and down the court. We knew going into next season that we needed to add some depth to our back court and in our pursuit we wanted to find a young lady who knows how to do the little things that will help our team win" said Prock "Randi definitely fits all of those traits, she is a very mature young lady who shows her maturity in the way she plays the game. Randi is a tenacious defender who will get after the basketball and does a great job of attacking the rim on the offensive end."
The 5'6 guard comes to Canyon following two seasons at Butler Community College where she saw time in 62 games with 48 starts. Harding went 190-of-534 (35.6%) from the floor including 61-of-227 (26.9%) from deep and 71-of-197 (67.3%) from the free throw line to average 8.3 points per game to go along with 187 rebounds, 150 assists, 67 steals and a block. The Grizzlies claimed 49 wins over the past two seasons with a pair of trips to the NJCAA Region VI Tournament.
Harding registered a standout prep career at Mustang High School in Mustang, Oklahoma where she was a member of the 1,000 point club, claiming OCA All-State honors during her senior season for the Broncos. She was named to The Daily Oklahoman's Big All-City First Team as she averaged 15.3 points per game while shooting 42.6% from behind the arc.
Randi is the daughter of Randall and Katherine Harding and she has one brother, Lucky. She is expected to major in Marketing at West Texas A&M.
"One of the strongest attributes Randi has is her will to win; in two seasons at Butler CC Randi helped lead her team to 20+ wins in each season. Randi is a true point guard and leader on and off the court as well as great student in the classroom" added Prock "She will definitely be a great asset for our program and we are so excited for Buff Nation to meet her in the Fall."
"I'm very excited that Randi will be attending West Texas A&M. They have a wonderful program, and she will learn a lot from Coach Prock and his staff" said Butler CC Head Coach Mike Helmer "Randi is an amazing young lady, that grew tremendously in the last two years. We will miss her leadership on and off the floor. She is a great defender as well as a good offensive player. I will miss her dearly but at the same time so excited to watch her continue to grow."
