CANYON, Texas – The 2024 campaign for West Texas A&M baseball came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the #18 Buffs fell to Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State, 8-3 in the South Central Regional Championships at Bus Bergman Sports Complex on the campus of Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado.

The Rams jumped out to an early lead in the home half of the first inning as Conagher Sands singled to right field to drive in Tayten Tredaway followed by a Kamden Kelton RBI groundout and Ryder McDaniel being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the 3-0 lead.

WT got on the board in the top of the third inning as Kyle Micklus lifted a sacrifice fly to center field as Rodric Black tagged up to make it 3-1. ASU added to their lead in the bottom of the frame as Justin Harris singled up the middle to drive in Sands for the 4-1 lead.

Angelo broke the game open in the fourth inning on a Jacob Guerrero RBI single to left that scored Hunter Holt followed by a Weston Valasek RBI double down the left field line to make it 7-1. ASU would add an insurance run in the fifth on a Tredaway sacrifice fly to left that plated Harris, WT would cut into the lead for the final time in the top of the sixth on a Glenn Noronha two-run triple to the wall in right center that scored Black and Elijah Batista to make it 8-3.
