CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M allowed a run in the top of the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon to split their Lone Star Conference weekend series with the #18 Lubbock Christian Chaps as WT fell 5-4 on Senior Day at Wilder Park.

The Chaps got on the board in the top of the first inning as they took advantage of a pair of WT errors that scored Shea Bowen and Jarred Gibson for the 2-0 lead. WT responded in the bottom of the frame on a
Ryan Camacho RBI double down the right field line that scored
Elijah Batista to make it 2-1.

The Buffs took their first lead of the afternoon in the home half of the third as
Glenn Noronha and
Kory Schmidt doubled home runs followed by a
Dylan Fesperman RBI single to left to scorer Schmidt for the 4-2 lead. LCU cut into the lead in the top of the seventh on a Ryan Ball single thru the left side to score Nate Van Maanen followed by a Frayner Chaves RBI double to the gap in left center to make it 4-4.

LCU retook the lead in the top of the ninth as Brevin McCool started the frame with a double to center followed later in the frame by a Chaves sac fly to left that plated McCool for the 5-4 lead.

Nick Yeager picked up the loss (5-3) for the Buffs, allowing one earned run on one hit with one walk and four strikeouts in his 1.1 innings of relief.

The Buffs close out the regular season next weekend as they travel to San Angelo, Texas for a four-game series with the defending National Champion Angelo State Rams beginning on Friday night at Foster Field with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
