Lady Buffs Fight Back Before Falling to LCU on Senior Day, 61-58

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs showed heart and overcame a slow start to the game as a big fourth quarter run gave WT a chance at a win on Senior Day, a last second shot attempt wouldn't fall as Lubbock Christian left Canyon with a 61-58 victory in the regular-season finale at the First United Bank Center.
 
Karley Motschenbacher led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Moorhead, Minnesota product went 4-of-5 from the floor including 1-of-1 from deep and 5-of-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 14 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists, one block and a steal. Grace Alvarez (11) and Hollie Stalder (10) also finished in double-figures.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the game going 18-of-42 (42.9%) from the field including 6-of-10 (60%) from deep and 16-of-23 (69.6%) from the free throw line with 36 rebounds (three offensive, 33 defensive), seven assists, 14 turnovers, four blocks and three steals.
 
Grace Foster paced the LCU offense as the Childress product went 7-of-16 from the floor including 2-of-6 from behind the arc and 6-of-6 from the stripe for a game-high 22 points to go along with seven boards, one assist and a block. The Lady Chaps finished the afternoon going 20-of-58 (34.5%) from the floor including 9-of-23 (39.1%) from deep and 12-of-13 (92.3%) from the line with 28 rebounds, six assists, nine turnovers, one block and six steals.
 
The Lady Buffs have qualified for their 31st straight and 36th overall trip to the Lone Star Conference Championships taking place next weekend at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. WT will be the seven-seed and take on second-seed UT Tyler on Friday afternoon with tipoff set for 2:30 p.m.
