CANYON, Texas – The #5 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M couldn't avoid big innings on Friday night as the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds picked up a run-rule victory to open the Lone Star Conference weekend series at Greyhound Field in Portales, New Mexico.

The Buffs jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning as a pair of walks with two outs along with a stolen base setup a
Dylan Fesperman RBI double to the wall in left that plated
Ryan Camacho for the 1-0 advantage.

ENMU responded in the home half of the frame as Daniel Pruitt lifted a sac fly to the warning track in center with no outs to score Luciano Terilli followed later in the frame by a two-run single to center by Beau Preston for the 3-1 lead.

WT answered in the top of the second as
Elijah Batista was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and no outs to score
Ken Hemmer followed by a wild pitch and an error plated Pau Wittmann and
Glenn Noronha,
Kyle Micklus lifted a sac fly to center that score
Elijah Batista followed by a Fesperman two-run single to left center for the 7-3 lead.

The Hounds had a big inning in the bottom of the third as Preston drew an RBI walk with the bases loaded and no outs followed by an infield single by Dylan Shea and Landon Pyles getting hit by a pitch to score Cooper Hamilton to force a WT pitching change. Terilli lifted a sac fly to center to plate Preston followed by a Demetrio Archuleta RBI single up the middle and a Willie Ponce two-run triple to right, Eastern wasn't done yet as Pruitt doubled down the left field line to score one and make it 11-7.

WT cut into the lead in the top of the fourth as Camacho scored from third on a wild pitch with two outs to make it 11-8. The Hounds kept their hot streak alive at the plate in the home half as Pyles singled to center to score Preston followed by a sac fly by Terilli and an Archuleta RBI single for the 14-8 lead.

WT cut into the lead in the top of the sixth as Camacho lifted a sacrifice fly to right with no outs to score
Rodric Black followed by a wild pitch to score Micklus to make it 14-10. ENMU responded again in the home half as Terilli scored on a wild pitch with no outs followed by a Hamilton RBI single along with a WT error that plated two, the Hounds weren't done yet as another WT error scored one followed by a Preston RBI single to left to make it 20-10.

Nick Marshall picked up the loss (1-2) for the Buffs, allowing nine earned runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts in his 2.1 innings of work.
