Lady Buff Basketball Announces the Addition of Sofi Woodson

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head women's basketball coach Josh Prock has announced the addition of Oklahoma City product Sofi Woodson to the Lady Buff High School Signing Class of 2023-24.

"We are very excited that Sofi has decided to play her college basketball at West Texas A&M. Simply put she is an amazing young lady and basketball player, we will continue to place an importance on recruiting young ladies that are able to play with their back to the basket. She is a true post player with a tremendous amount of strength around the basket and can score with both hands" said Prock "Sofi also has the ability to step out and hit the 17-foot shot. She has tremendous footwork and knows how to use her size very well around the basket."

The 6'2 post is currently in her senior campaign at Jones High School where she led the Lady Longhorns to the Oklahoma Class 3A State Championship each of the last three seasons under head coach Jenni Holbrook, becoming the ninth program in Oklahoma women's basketball history to win three straight State Titles.

Sori is the daughter of Gina McCarty-Woodson and Doug Woodson and she has one sibling, McCall. She is undecided on a major at West Texas A&M.

Another important trait for us is on the defensive end and she moves well because of her outstanding footwork and her has the ability to guard multiple positions. Sofi is also an strong rebounder and we believe she will be consistently one of the best rebounders on our team and around the region" added Prock "She is an extremely tough young lady and plays hard on every possession which is a skill that consistently stood out to us. Sofi is such a fun person to be around and will fit in very well with our program. We are very excited to add Sofi to our program and can't wait to watch her progress over the years."

"Sofi has been a three-year starter for the Longhorns. She has been on three State Championship teams and she knows what it takes to win. Sofi is a commanding presence in the paint with her size and length" said Jones High School head coach Jenni Holbrook "She immediately impacts the game on both ends when she is on the floor. We have seen her mature and develop as a player and as an individual over the past four years and are very excited to see her have an opportunity to play at the next level for West Texas A&M."
