Lady Buffs Start Their Road Trip with a 71-62 Win at St. Mary’s

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs started their South Texas road trip with a win on Thursday night as four players in double-figures lifted WT to a 71-62 Lone Star Conference crossover victory over the St. Mary's Rattlers at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas.
 
Nyalam Thabach led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the senior post went 4-of-16 from the floor including 8-of-9 from the free throw line for a team-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Karley Motschenbacher scored in double-figures in the sixth straight contest with 10 while Kyla Kane (12) and Grace Alvarez (10) also chipped in double-digits.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the game going 25-of-64 (39.1%) from the floor including 4-of-18 (22.2%) from deep and 17-of-21 (81%) from the free throw line with 41 rebounds (12 offensive, 29 defensive), 10 assists, nine turnovers, eight blocks and seven steals.
 
Taylor Haggan paced the St. Mary's offense as the freshman from Parker, Texas went 6-of-13 from the floor including 4-of-7 from the stripe for a game-high 17 points to go along with 11 boards, two blocks and two steals for a double-double. The Rattlers went 23-of-61 (37.7%) from the field including 4-of-16 (25%) from deep and 12-of-20 (60%) from the line with 42 rebounds, 12 assists, 14 turnovers, two blocks and six steals.
 
The Lady Buffs close their Hill Country road trip on Saturday afternoon as they make their way to Austin, Texas for a Lone Star Conference crossover matchup with the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's, tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Recreation & Athletics Center.
