CANYON. Texas – The #8 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M overcame a slow start on Friday afternoon as they picked up a sweep over Lone Star Conference rival UT Tyler (26-24, 27-25, 25-17) during the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Quarterfinals at the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas.
Taytum Stow led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Hereford product had 11 kills on 15 swings with just one attack error to hit .667 on the afternoon with two digs and two blocks,
Camy Jones and
Angelina Oliver contributed nine kills each.
Ainsley Malis dished out 20 assists followed by
Hannah Pemberton with 19 while
Bryli Contreras had 18 digs and four aces in the back row.
The Lady Buffs registered 45 kills on 119 attempts with 16 errors to hit .244 as a team with 43 assists, six service aces, 51 digs and eight total blocks. UT Tyler had 41 kills on 125 swings with 19 errors for an attack percentage of .176 with 41 assists, two aces, 49 digs and seven blocks.
Makhi Lewis led the way for the Patriots as the junior from Carthage had 10 kills on 20 swings with two attack errors to hit .400 in the match with two digs and four blocks. Saige Rivera dished out a match-high 40 assists to go along with seven digs while Addison Evans (12) and Emma Vazquez (10) finished with double-digit digs.
