#8 Lady Buffs Fall to #3 MSU Denver in the Regional Semifinals

CANYON. Texas – The #8 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ended their 2024 campaign on Saturday night as they fell to the #3 MSU Denver Roadrunners in the South Central Regional Semifinals (22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 20-25) at Stephens Arena inside of the Junell Center in San Angelo, Texas.
 
Kaycee Cavanaugh capped off a stellar freshman campaign as the Troy, Texas product had 14 kills on 38 swings with six errors to hit .211 on the night with 17 digs and an assists, Emma Becker chipped in 13 kills followed by Currie Marusak with 10. Ainsley Malis dished out 25 assists with 12 digs to surpass 1,000 career digs in her final collegiate contest while Bryli Contreras ended her career with 23 digs in the back row.
 
The Lady Buffs registered 59 kills on 190 swings with 28 attack errors to hit .163 as a team with 52 assists, no aces, 86 digs and six total blocks. MSU Denver finished the night with 59 kills on 175 attempts with 17 errors for a team attack percentage of .240 with 54 assists, two aces, 92 digs and 13 blocks in the win.
 
Regional Player of the Year Riley Anderson led the way for the Roadrunners as the senior had 17 kills on 47 swings with just five errors to hit .255 on the night with 25 digs for a double-double. Annika Helf contributed 15 kills and 21 digs for a double-double of her own, Amela Qersha dished out 25 assists while Abbie McCrimmon led all players with 27 digs.
