Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 2 Buffs Top Aggies, 91-75

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M men's basketball returned to Lone Star Conference play with a 91-75 victory over the Cameron Aggies on Thursday night at the First United Bank Center. With the win, the Buffs improve to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in league play.

The Leaders
Five Buffs reached double-digit scoring on Thursday night led by a game-high 20 from Ahamed Mohammed. Noah Pagotto (18), Mackenzie Morgan (14), Bob Griechen (12), and Narit Chotikavanic (12) also ended their day in double figures. Pagotto recorded a double-double with a game-high 12 rebounds with three blocks. Eight players recorded a steal on the night with Mohammed and Isaac Ayoubi recording four assists each.

How It Happened
WT and Cameron exchanged the lead to open the game with neither team gaining a lead bigger than two points. A tip-in layup from Morgan with 15:55 to play in the first half put the Buffs up three going into the first media timeout of the night. Cameron battled back to take the lead briefly before a 7-0 run put WT five midway through the period. Throughout the first half, the Buffs slowly extended their lead before taking a 12-point lead into halftime.

After halftime, the Aggies scored first on Zavieon Okoh's layup only to be answered by a layup from Pagotto. After a missed shot, a tip-in layup from Jaxon Ingram drew a foul where Ingram made the free throw to bring the lead back down to single digits. That would be the closest Cameron would get in the contest on the night. Ahead of the under-16 media timeout, WT started an extended scoring run, outscoring the Aggies 13-3 over three and a half minutes. The Buffs' lead reached a game-high 21 before Cameron ended the streak. With a comfortable lead, WT started to work clock with a double-digit lead, closing out a 16-point Lone Star Conference victory.

WT turns around and hosts Oklahoma Christian on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
