#6 West Texas A&M Leaves South Texas with a Four Set Victory

CANYON. Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs continued their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they remained unbeaten in Lone Star Conference action with a four-set win (25-19, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20) over the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas inside of the Steinke Center.
 
Camy Jones led the balanced attack for the Lady Buffs as the senior had 12 kills on 26 swings with four errors to hit .308 on the afternoon to go along with two blocks and a dig. Emma Becker, Kaycee Cavanaugh and Currie Marusak added 11 kills each. Ainsley Malis dished out a team-high 25 assists to go along with five digs and an ace while Bryli Contreras led the way in the back row with 19 digs in the win.
 
Ayanna Jackson and Rylie Barnett led the way for the Javelinas, finishing the match with 12 kills each followed by Rylan Pollard with 11. Nadia Pena registered 25 assists and eight digs while Meghan Stiefer and Isabel Rodriguez led the team with nine digs each.
 
The Lady Buffs registered 58 kills on 138 swings with 19 attack errors to hit .283 as a team with 50 assists, four aces, 54 digs and nine blocks. Texas A&M-Kingsville finished with 55 kills on 146 attempts with 22 errors to hit .226 with 52 assists, one ace, 58 digs and seven blocks in the match.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • West Texas A&M is now 57-13 all-time against Texas A&M-Kingsville, winning the last five matches against the Javelinas
  • The Lady Buffs remain unbeaten in Lone Star Conference action, moving to 14-0 as WT claimed their 15th straight victory dating back to September 20th.
