CANYON. Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs clinched at least a share of the program's 22
nd Lone Star Conference Championship on Friday night as they picked up a four-set win over the Midwestern State Mustangs (25-16, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20) at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" on Senior Night.
Emma Becker led the way for the Lady Buffs as the junior from Liberty Hill finished with 17 kills on 28 swings with just four errors for an attack percentage of .464 to go along with two digs and four blocks.
Kaycee Cavanaugh contributed 11 kills and nine digs while
Ainsley Malis dished out a team-high 27 assists with
Bryli Contreras leading the way in the back row with 22 digs and a pair of aces.
Midwestern State was led offensively by Demi Stauffenberg with 16 kills on 32 swings with seven attack errors to hit .281 on the night to go along with 13 digs for a double-double. Isabella Dickens (12) and Riley Rabedeaux (10) finished with double-figure kills while Alayna Guerrero dished out a match-high 33 assists with Amy Dewalt leading MSU with 14 digs.
The Lady Buffs registered 58 kills on 141 swings with 18 errors to hit .284 as a team with 50 assists, eight aces, 53 digs and 10 blocks. Midwestern State finished the match with 52 kills on 138 attempts with 25 attack errors to hit .196 as a team with 51 assists, no aces, 55 digs and five blocks.
MATCH NOTES
- West Texas A&M is now 43-1 all-time against the Mustangs as WT has won the last eight meetings, Midwestern State moves to 0-21 inside of the WTAMU Fieldhouse.
- The Lady Buffs remain unbeaten in Lone Star Conference action, moving to 15-0 as WT claimed their 16th straight victory dating back to September 20th.
- WT has clinched at least a share of their 22nd Lone Star Conference Championship along with the right to host the LSC Championships on November 21-23.
