Cavanaugh Leads the #6 Lady Buffs Past Texas A&M International

CANYON. Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs ran their win streak to 14 matches on Friday night as they swept past the Texas A&M International Dustdevils (25-23, 25-20, 25-21) at the Kinesiology & Convocation Center in Laredo to remain unbeaten in Lone Star Conference action.
 
Kaycee Cavanaugh led the way for the Lady Buffs as the freshman had 12 kills on 23 swings with just one attack error to hit .478 on the night with three blocks, one ace and 15 digs for her seventh double-double. Currie Marusak and Camy Jones contributed eight kills each, Ainsley Malis guided the WT offense as she dished out 21 assists to go along with eight digs while Hannah Pemberton had 15 assists and six digs.
 
Texas A&M International was led by Anna Ligart who had 13 kills on 30 attempts with five attack errors to hit .267 on the night with five digs and a block, Emma Lade dished out a match-high 27 assists to go along with 15 digs for a double-double.
 
The Lady Buffs registered 42 kills on 121 swings with 10 errors for an attack percentage of .264 to go along with 39 assists, six aces, 49 digs and eight blocks. TAMIU finished the match with 44 kills on 136 attempts with 20 errors to hit .176 as a team with 37 assists, three aces, 55 digs and three blocks in the loss.

  • West Texas A&M is now 9-1 all-time against Texas A&M International, sweeping the season series against the Dustdevils
  • The Lady Buffs remain unbeaten in Lone Star Conference action, moving to 13-0 as WT claimed their 14th straight victory dating back to September 20th.
