#9 Lady Buffs Sweep Past #14 Angelo State at The Box

CANYON, Texas – The #14 Lady Buffs exacted a bit of revenge on Friday night as they picked up a Lone Star Conference sweep over rival Angelo State (25-19, 25-15, 25-22) at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon to snap an 11-match win streak by the Belles.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the night with 45 kills on 95 swings with 14 errors for an attack percentage of .326 to go along with 41 assists, two aces, 34 digs and seven blocks. The Belles had 38 kills on 104 attempts with 18 attack errors to hit .192 as a team with 36 assists, no aces, 30 digs and five blocks in the loss.
 
Emma Becker and Kaycee Cavanaugh finished the night with 10 kills each for the Lady Buffs as Becker had just one attack error to hit .562 while Cavanaugh registered her fifth double-double with 11 digs. Ainsley Malis paced the WT offense as the Tucson product dished out 24 assists to go along with five digs while Bryli Contreras had eight digs in the back row.
 
Angelo State was led offensively by Evelyn Torres and Madi Parrish with 10 kills each as they combined for just seven attack errors, Adeline Ortman dished out a match-high 27 assists to go along with six digs while Caleigh Enax led the way in the back row with nine digs for ASU.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • The Lady Buffs returned to the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" for their first home contest in 27 days dating back to a sweep over West Virginia State to close out the BritKare Lady Buff Classic on September 7th
  • Friday night was the 94th all-time meeting between the Belles and Lady Buffs as WT holds a 65-29 lead in the series that dates back to 1980. ASU has dropped their last five trips to The Box
