#9 Lady Buffs Start Fast in a Top-25 Sweep at Dallas Baptist

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to eight matches on Friday night as they picked up a crucial Lone Star Conference sweep over #25 Dallas Baptist (25-14, 27-25, 25-20) at the Burg Center.
 
WT finished the night with 49 kills on 102 swings with just eight errors for an attack percentage of .402 to go along with 39 assists, four aces, 46 digs and four blocks. The Patriots registered 35 kills on 105 attempts with 16 errors to hit .181 in the match with 29 assists, five aces, 43 digs and two blocks.
 
Kaycee Cavanaugh led the way for the Lady Buffs as the freshman from Troy, Texas had 13 kills on 27 swings with two errors to hit .370 on the night with an ace, six digs and a block. Currie Marusak chipped in 12 kills with an attack percentage of .579 with six digs, Ainsley Malis dished out a team-high 20 assists to go along with seven digs while Bryli Contreras led the way in the back row with 11 digs.
 
Reigning LSC Player of the Year Delaney Fuller had 11 kills on 34 swings with four attack errors to hit .206 for the Patriots to go along with eight digs, Aryn Walton registered a match-high 28 assists while Daylee Doggett had 12 digs for DBU.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • Friday's matchup in Dallas was the 17th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Patriots, WT is 16-1 in the series that dates back to 2004
  • The Lady Buffs have now picked up seven wins over teams ranked inside of the AVCA Top-25 Poll (Central Missouri, Regis, Concordia-St. Paul, Chaminade, Angelo State and DBU twice)
