CANYON, Texas – The #9 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to seven matches on Saturday afternoon as they swept past the rival Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds (25-18, 25-12, 25-10) during Lone Star Conference action at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena in Portales, New Mexico.
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon with 43 kills on 100 swings with 11 attack errors to hit .320 with 42 assists, eight aces, 43 digs and six blocks. Eastern New Mexico finished the match with 22 kills on 92 attempts with 21 errors for an attack percentage of .011 to go along with 22 assists, four aces, 40 digs and two blocks.
Taytum Stow and
Camy Jones led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs with eight kills each as they combined for just one attack error on 28 attempts, Jones had six digs and a block while Stow registered four blocks in the win.
Ainsley Malis paced the WT offense with 17 assists followed by
Blair Moreland with 10 while
Getsemani Carrasco led the way in the back row with nine digs.
Darcy Dodd finished the afternoon with a match-high nine kills on 29 attempts with six attack errors to hit .103 with two aces and seven digs, Cayla Reyes and Angelina Sanches dished out nine assists each while Imahni Brown led all players with 15 digs.
MATCH NOTES
- Saturday afternoon marked the 88th all-time meeting between the Lady Buffs and Greyhounds, WT is 73-15 in the series that dates back to 1980. The Lady Buffs are now 28-12 at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena, formerly known as Greyhound Arena
