#2 Lady Buffs Finish LSC Crossover with Sweep Over Patriots

CANYON, Texas – The No. 2 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M finished the LSC Crossover with a sweep of the UT Tyler Patriots (25-19, 25-15, 27-25). This match concludes the LSC Crossover hosted by WT after six games were played over a three-day period in The Box.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Buffs had a significant lead in the first and second sets and held the Patriots at a five point distance throughout each set. Senior middle blocker Carly Evetts dominated the match hitting .500 with ten kills and no errors. Sophomore Taytum Stow and Emma Becker kept the Patriots offense at bay with six blocks combined.
The third set saw a different start as the Patriots came out hot with a five point lead. The first Lady Buff timeout of the match would prove effective as WT went on a 7-1 run of points making the score 9-7. The Patriots called their own timeout to come out of the deficit. The 14 back and forth ties from the score kept the defense on their toes as the Patriots and Lady Buffs moved the ball offensively across the net. A momentous kill at 23-24 from junior Brynne Wright would lead the Lady Buffs to the victory as the tide switched with a final score of 27-25.

BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Carly Evetts and sophomore Emma Becker led the way in kills for the Lady Buffs with 12 each. Becker had 23 attempts and two errors to hit .391. Ainsley Malis had 18 assists, libero Bryli Contreras held down the back row with 25 digs. Evetts contributed two service aces and sophomore Taytum Stow held down the defense front row with six blocks.
