CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes connected on five long balls on Sunday afternoon as they picked up a 15-7 Lone Star Conference victory to clinch the weekend series from the UT Permian Basin Falcons at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first as Carson Johnson lifted a two-run homerun to left field with one out followed later in the frame by a WT error that led to a Jack Haggerty sacrifice fly to right for the 3-0 lead.

WT answered in the home half of the first as
Will Fuenning lifted a sac fly to right field to plate
Mike Manetta followed by a
Kory Schmidt two-run homerun to straight away center to make it 3-3. UTPB retook the lead in the top of the second as Christian Rodriguez singled up the middle to drive in Austin Hall with one out for the 4-3 lead.

The Falcons retook the lead again in the top of the fifth as Cooper Ciesielski singled up the middle with runners on the corner and two outs for he 5-4 lead. The Buffs answered again in the bottom of the fifth as
Adam Becker launched his 33
rd career homerun, a two-run shot to left center for the 6-5 lead.

The Buffs would use the long ball again to add to their lead in the sixth as
Dylan Fesperman went the other way for a three-run shot to right field for the 9-6 lead. UTPB cut into the lead in the top of the seventh on RBI singles with two outs by Taylor McDaniel and Austin Hall to make it 9-7.

WT added to their lead in the bottom of the eight as
Patrick Donovan started off the frame with a solo homerun to right center followed later by a
Bryant Bailey RBI double and RBI base hits from Manetta and Fuenning, the Buffs weren't done yet as
Eddy Savoie singled to center with two outs to drive in a pair to make it 15-7.

Isaac Keehn picked up the win (3-1) on the mound for the Buffs, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts in his 4.2 innings of relief while
Reese Miller picked up his third save, allowing no runs on just two hits with three strikeouts over the last 2.1 innings of work.
The Buffs hit the road for LSC action next weekend as they travel to Tyler, Texas for a four-game series against the UT Tyler Patriots beginning on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Irwin Field.
