DENTON, Texas – The No. 23-ranked Lady Buffs clinched another Lone Star Conference series on Saturday afternoon, defeating Texas Woman's in both games of the day's doubleheader. The Lady Buffs took game one 8-1 before taking down the Pioneers in game two, 7-1.
WT (20-3, 11-3 LSC) looks to complete the sweep of Texas Woman's on Sunday with the final game starting at 1 p.m. in Denton.

Gabie McConnell started the game with a single up the middle, kickstarting a Lady Buff offense in the first. After a pair of outs,
Diana Murtha drew a walk to set up
Madison Johnson's RBI single to right field.
Malaya Delfin entered the game, pinch-running for Murtha at third. Immediately after coming into the game, Johnson and Delfin executed a double steal to put WT up by two runs.
The Lady Buffs held the Pioneers off the board until the bottom of the second when a leadoff walk turned into a run with two outs. WT restored its two-run advantage in the next inning when the Lady Buffs pulled off another double steal.
Both offenses went quiet until WT plated two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. After
Emilee Boyer reached on an error to start the inning, a single and a groundout moved Boyer to third base. The Harrisburg, S.D. native scored on the next batter as
Julie Guzman recorded an RBI groundout.
Braeland Booth followed Guzman's RBI with an RBI of her own as the junior singled to center, scoring Murtha.
The Lady Buffs continued their scoring in the seventh inning as McConnell brought in
Brittni Rufus on a groundout. After McConnell's groundout,
Ruby Salzman walked to set up Boyer's seventh home run of the season, capping the scoring at 8-1.

WT started game two in similar fashion to game one, scoring a pair of runs in the opening frame. Salzman worked her way around the bases after a single with one out and scored on a wild pitch when Boyer walked. On the base paths, Boyer stole second and advanced to third on an error by the Pioneers' defense. With two strikes in her at bat, Murtha brought Boyer in to score on a single to the center fielder.
In the third, a Boyer single and Murtha walk turned into two runs when Johnson doubled into the gap. An inning later,
Lauren Granger recorded her first collegiate home run, blasting the solo shot to lead off the inning. Rufus followed the long ball with a double to right, allowing McConnell to drive in the run on a single.
The Lady Buffs wrapped up their scoring on the afternoon in the sixth inning with a singular run. Three straight hits from McConnnell, Salzman, and Boyer allowed WT to take a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth. The Pioneers broke up the shutout with a solo home run to left, bringing the score to 7-1.
The seventh inning saw
Emilee Wilson work around a leadoff single, retiring the next three batters in six pitches.
