  • Clarion 28-7 (13-3 PSAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was the closest with the Lady Buffs and the Golden Eagles changing leads six times and tying twelve times in the set. The Lady Buffs would go on a 3-0 run only to find the Golden Eagles finding big strings of points as well. After both teams exhausted their final timeouts before 20 points, it became a dog fight of who could gain control in the final points. At 19-21, the Lady Buffs had an advantage before a kill from outside hitter Cassidy Snider of Clarion tied it up at 21 a piece. WT had a response with a Camy Jones kill and a Bryli Contreras ace to take a two-point lead. The Lady Buffs would finish out the tightest set of the match winning 25-23.

The second and third sets started with early leads which became early dominations of the match. There was only one tied score in the second coming early in the set at 6-6. The Lady Buffs would hold the lead with four hitters, Miller, Evetts, Jones and Stow, hitting above .400 with the Lady Buffs finishing with a .397 hitting percentage as a team in the set. In the second set, senior Torrey Miller would hit her 1,950th career kill to surpass former Lady Buff, Shannon Stroud (1999-2002), for the third most career kills in WT history.

The third and final set saw much of the same with the Lady Buffs hitting on all cylinders adding a team total seven blocks and 40 digs. Setters Blair Moreland and Ainsley Malis distributed the ball to seven players who all but two had over 10 attempts. Malis would be one of the attackers having a 1.000% percentage with one kill on one attempt. The Lady Buffs have now found their way into the final four for the second year in a row.

BY THE NUMBERS
Torrey Miller had 12 kills on 30 attempts with only two errors to hit .333. Blair Moreland led with 20 assists while Bryli Contreras and Miller split with ten digs a piece. The Lady Buff middle blockers, Taytum Stow and Carly Evetts, put up three blocks apiece to lead.
