Kane’s Big Afternoon Propels the Lady Buffs Past Texas A&M International

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M led for all but 15 seconds on Tuesday afternoon as they had three players in double-figures on their way to a 71-61 Lone Star Conference victory over the Texas A&M International Dustdevils at the First United Bank Center on Community Day in Canyon.
 
Kyla Kane finished the game going 5-of-13 from the floor including 3-of-6 from behind the arc and a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line for a career-high 25 points to go along with seven rebounds and a steal. Nyalam Thabach registered a double-double for the second straight game with 14 points and 16 boards while Azia Himeur chipped in 14 points of her own.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the game going 23-of-60 (38.3%) from the field including 7-of-20 (35%) from deep and 18-of-22 (81.8%) from the charity stripe with 50 rebounds (10 offensive, 40 defensive), 14 assists, 19 turnovers, two blocks and six steals.
 
Raiana Brown led the way for the Dustdevils as the senior went 10-of-15 from the floor including 2-of-3 from deep to finish with 25 points to go along with six rebounds, one assists, a block and four steals. TAMIU went 21-of-69 (30.4%) from the field including 4-of-20 (20%) from behind the arc and 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the stripe with 40 rebounds, nine assists, 11 turnovers, one block and 12 steals.
 
The Lady Buffs head to Daytona Beach, Florida to take part in the Daytona Beach Shootout as they take on #16 Montana State-Billings (Dec. 16) and St. Mary's (Dec. 17) at the Ocean Center Arena.
