CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M trailed by 13 points entering halftime before
Karley Motschenbacher scored 20 points in the second half on their way to a big 70-63 comeback victory over the #12 Azusa Pacific Cougars on Sunday afternoon to close out the D2CCA Tipoff Classic at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock.

The junior from Moorhead, Minnesota went 6-of-13 from the floor including 8-of-8 from the charity stripe for a team-high 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals.
Grace Alvarez finished the afternoon going 4-of-14 from the floor for 11 points while dishing out five assists with a block and a steal.

The Lady Buffs went 24-of-61 (39.3%) from the field including 3-of-12 (25%) from behind the arc and 19-o-24 (79.2%) at the free throw line to go along with 45 total rebounds (11 offensive, 34 defensive), 11 assists, 18 turnovers, three blocks and five steals.

Amayah Kirkman led the way for the Cougars as the Phoenix product went 7-of-15 from the floor including 4-of-11 from deep for a team-high 18 points to go along with four boards, one assists and a steal. APU finished the afternoon going 24-of-66 (36.4%) from the field including 7-of-24 (29.2%) from deep and 8-of-14 (57.1%) from the charity stripe with 38 rebounds, 16 assists, 15 turnovers, two blocks and eight steals.

The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend to take part in a South Central Regional Challenge at Brownson Arena in Grand Junction, Colorado as they take on the host Mavericks of Colorado Mesa as well as South Dakota Mines.
