CANYON, Texas – The Colorado Mesa Mavericks ended the first half on an 11-0 run and never looked back as they picked up a 70-51 victory over the Lady Buffs during the South Central Regional Challenge at Brownson Arena in Grand Junction, Colorado on Friday evening.

Nyalam Thabach led the way for the Lady Buffs as the senior from Boise, Idaho went 5-of-14 from the floor including 3-of-5 from the free throw line for a team-high 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds, one assist and four blocks for a double-double.
Grace Alvarez finished the night with nine points and three assists while
Kyla Kane added seven points.

The Lady Buffs went 18-of-53 (34%) from the field including 4-of-19 (21.1%) from deep and 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the charity stripe with 31 total rebounds (six offensive, 25 defensive), nine assists, 18 turnovers, seven blocks and four steals.

CMU was led by Olivia Reed who went 11-of-20 from the floor for a game-high 23 points to go along with 11 rebounds, two assists and three blocks. The Mavericks finished the night going 24-of-58 (41.4%) from the field including 4-of-17 (23.5%) from deep and 18-of-25 (72%) from the free throw line with 41 rebounds, 20 assists, 15 turnovers, three blocks and four steals.

The Lady Buffs close out their trip to Grand Junction on Saturday evening as they take on the Hardrockers of South Dakota Mines with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. CT at Brownson Arena. The Hardrockers fell to UT Permian Basin, 60-55 earlier in the afternoon on the campus of CMU.Â
