CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M connected nine times from behind the arc as they shot 42.9% from the floor in an 81-55 regional road victory over the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls on Tuesday afternoon at the John A. Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Azia Himeur led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Albuquerque product went 5-of-8 from behind the arc for a team-high 15 points to go along with one rebound, one assist and a steal followed by
Nyalam Thabach (14),
Hollie Stalder (13) and
Bree Brattain (12) in double-figures.

The Lady Buffs finished the game going 27-of-63 (42.9%) from the floor including 9-of-26 (34.6%) from deep and 18-of-19 (94.7%) from the free throw line with 35 total rebounds (11 offensive, 24 defensive), 16 assists, 16 turnovers, seven steals and two blocks.

The Cowgirls were led by Eva Ongoongotau as the junior guard went 7-of-12 from the field including 2-of-4 from the charity stripe for a game-high 17 points to go along with two rebounds and two steals. NMHU finished the game going 24-of-58 (36.2%) from the field including 5-of-16 (31.3%) from deep and 8-of-12 (66.7%) from the line to go along with 28 rebounds, 12 assists, 14 turnovers, 11 steals and five blocks.

The Lady Buffs return to action on Thursday, November 30 as they open up Lone Star Conference action on the road in Fort Smith, Arkansas taking on the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.Â
