ODESSA, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team couldn't find an offensive answer on Wednesday night as the Lady Buffs fell to the UT Permian Basin Falcons, 5-1. With the loss, WT fell to 1-3-4 overall on the season and 0-1-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
15 seconds into the game UTPB registered a shot but couldn't find the target. The game's next scoring chance came in the 20
th minute when
Jasmine Gibson drew a foul inside the Falcons' penalty box. On the ensuing penalty kick,
Kyndahl Britton put the ball in the back of the net to give WT a 1-0 lead. With less than five and a half minutes to play before halftime, UTPB tied the game as Tatiana Leggiero found Isabella Campos for a goal.
The second half went in favor of the Falcons outshot the Lady Buffs 4-0 and earned a corner kick. UTPB took a lead it wouldn't relinquish 25 seconds into the second half when Tatiana Leggiero netted a goal. The Falcons added to their lead in the 69
th minute off Andrea Garcia's goal and the 77
th minute from Carolina Farias. UTPB wrapped up its scoring for the game in the 82
nd minute when Andrea Garcia found Laura Perez.
WT returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup with No. 17-ranked Dallas Baptist.
