Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lady Buffs and Greyhounds End Scoreless

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer played to a scoreless draw with the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Buffs' record moves to 1-9-6 overall and 0-7-4 in Lone Star Conference play while the Greyhounds moved to 1-12-5 overall and 0-10-2 in league action.

The game started as a possession duel as neither team registered a shot in the opening 10 minutes. After Reagan Matacale drew a free kick outside the Eastern New Mexico penalty box, Bailey Malone stepped up to take the kick, placing a shot on frame. The Greyhounds then went on a run of shots but couldn't break the goal line. One of the shots went into the arms of Reagan Heelan who waited for the defense to advance up the field. As ENMU put pressure on Heelan, she picked up the ball again causing an indirect free kick inside the box. The Greyhounds were able to get a shot off, but Heelan broke through the wall to make the save. The WT defense stood tall throughout the remainder of the first half as ENMU continued to pepper the goal.

After a scoreless first half in which the Lady Buffs registered just two shots, WT came off the midway break as the aggressors. The Lady Buffs spent the early portion of the half on the Greyhounds' side of the field. The early advancement produced five shots with four on frame in the span of six minutes. As the second half progressed, ENMU and WT took turns scattering shots as the time drained out. With a minute and a half to play, the Greyhounds looked to have found the lead after Nina Ballesteros broke through the Lady Buff defense. As Heelan charged off her line, Ballesteros lifted a shot over the goalkeeper's head but kept it high over the crossbar.

WT ends the season on Friday, Nov. 3 at St. Mary's with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
