CANYON, Texas – The reigning Big 12 Champion Oklahoma Sooners scored 27 points in the opening quarter and never looked back on their way to a 113-38 exhibition victory over the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs on Halloween night at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
 
Grace Alvarez led the way for the Lady Buffs as the Houston product went 6-of-19 from the floor for a team-high 13 points to go along with two rebounds and two steals followed by Kyla Kane and Gloria Fornah with six points each.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the night going 14-of-70 (20%) from the floor including 2-of-27 (7.4%) from deep and 8-of-14 (57.1%) from the free throw line with 33 rebounds (14 offensive, 19 defensive), four assists, 18 turnovers, three blocks and four steals.
 
Tahlequah product Lexy Keys went 8-of-13 from the floor including 6-of-9 from behind the arc for a game-high 23 points to go along with three rebounds and four steals. The Sooners went 43-of-84 (51.2%) from the field including 10-of-31 (32.3%) from behind the arc and 17-of-19 (89.5%) from the free throw line with 65 rebounds, 31 assists, nine turnovers, eight blocks and 18 steals.
 
The Lady Buffs open their 2023-24 campaign on Saturday afternoon as they make the short trip down Highway 287 to compete in the D2CCA Tipoff Classic hosted by Lubbock Christian at the Rip Griffin Center. The Lady Buffs take on the Adams State Grizzlies in the season opener with tipoff set for 12:00 p.m. in Lubbock.
