#5 Lady Buffs Sweep the Greyhounds

CANYON, Texas – The No. 5 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs swept the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds (25-20, 25-13, 23-15) this afternoon in Portales, N.M. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Buffs took an early lead in the first and went up by seven points at 20-12. Multiple substitutions were made off the Lady Buff bench that saw Ashlyn Vinyard have two kills in the first set. The Greyhounds would go on a 5-0 run that forced a Lady Buff timeout. The Lady Buffs came out with vengeance to finish the set with back to back blocks from Taytum Stow and Brynne Wright
The second set saw a tie at 7-7 before the Lady Buffs took control and had a string of points. Stow was leading the offense with seven kills on the match while holding down the front line with a couple blocks. Bryli Contreras and Emma Patterson would hold down the back defense against the Greyhounds opposite hitter Garvin who had nine kills for the Greyhounds. WT would go on to defeat ENMU 25-13. 
The third set was quick for the Lady Buffs as they took an early lead at 3-1 before closing it out at 25-15. Wright would come alive with five kills in the set and leading the Lady Buffs with Stow finishing right behind with 12 kills overall.  

BY THE NUMBERS
Brynne Wright led offensive for the fifth time this season with 13 kills on 24 attempts with three errors hitting .417. Ainsley Malis led the offense with 26 assists while Torrey Miller had 19 digs. Four Lady Buffs had one ace a piece (Miller, Patterson, Contreras, and Moreland) in the match. Taytum Stow led with 4 blocks on the net.

  • WT leads the series all-time against the Greyhounds (72-15)
  • Lady Buffs are on a 12 match win streak, the second longest streak in NCAA DII this season

The Lady Buffs will travel to Lawton, Okla. to take on Cameron University on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
