#5 Lady Buffs Finish the Weekend with Another Sweep

CANYON, Texas – The No. 5 Lady Buffs swept the Texas Woman's Pioneers (29-27, 25-15, 25-13) at home in The Box for Homecoming this afternoon. The Lady Buffs are now sitting tied for second place, with Angelo State, in the Lone Star Conference standings after this weekend's match-ups. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Buffs and Pioneers fought hard in the first set with 12 ties in the 56 point set. The Lady Buffs started down for the first 15 points with the Pioneers bringing some heat on the front line from Sophomore Tori Woods who led TWU with 12 kills (.118). The Lady Buffs fought their way in at 18 points when they found some momentum from a Brynne Wright solo block to push them to 19. Once the Lady Buffs and Pioneers hit 20 points they went back and forth for the lead. The Pioneers had 3 opportunities to finish the set but had a missed serve set back along with kills from the WT side from Emma Becker and Taytum Stow. The Lady Buffs had two back-to-back blocks to finish the set with Stow claiming the last point from a straight down block in the middle. 
 
The second and third set saw the Lady Buffs take the match away offensively hitting .392 as a team. Emma Becker and Camy Jones held their own on the right side combining for 13 kills with Jones hitting .300 and Becker hitting .571. The Lady Buffs ran away with each set as they held the Pioneers to 28 points across the two sets. 
 
BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Torrey Miller led in kills for the Lady Buffs with 13 on 30 attempts and four errors to hit .300. Ainsley Malis led the offense with 27 assists for the second night in a row and Miller held down the back row with 12 digs. Bryli Contreras had two aces for the maroon and white while Taytum Stow had 8 blocks to lead the front line.

The Lady Buffs have produced 87 Great Clips blocks at home in The Box.

COMING UP
The Lady Buffs will travel to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State for a mid-week match on Tuesday, Oct. 17 then will continue onto Lone Star Conference play against University of Arkansas Fort Smith and Oklahoma Christian at home in The Box.
